Seahouses have a new Lifeboat at last, she sailed into Seahouses at 13:36hr this afternoon, Sunday 18 Oct 2020. We were directed to have something of a news blackout, to avoid attracting crowds who could have breached Covid 19 regulations. Sad, as many would have liked to see the spectacle.
Seahouses finally has its new Lifeboat, and very sleek she is too !
The RNLI tradition was once again upheld on Sunday 18 October 2020 at 13.36hr (new lifeboat hull number), when the Seahouses Mersey Lifeboat RNLB Grace Darling, escorted her successor Shannon Class Lifeboat RNLB John and Elizabeth Allan into her new harbour home. Berwick upon Tweed Lifeboat also joined us for the escort, as did Craster Inshore Lifeboat, which escorted our new boat past Craster to Beadnell. A big thanks to them. This was the last leg of a long passsage by the Seahouses Crew under command of Coxswain/Mechanic Craig Pringle, from the RNLI All Weather Lifeboat Centre at Poole, calling at Newhaven, Lowestoft, Scarborough and Amble. NB this event had to be kept low key to avoid attracting crowds who could breach Covid-19 regulations, but there was still a sizeable welcoming crowd, who applauded the arrival. A very proud day for Seahouses and our Lifeboat Station.
