Seahouses RNLI Lifeboat was requested to launch by UK Coastguard at 22.51hr on Friday 23 August 2019, (the night before their annual fund raising fete !) following a call for assistance from an 11 metre yacht, south of Holy Island. The yacht had run over lobster pot markers in the dark, and picked up a rope around its propeller.
It was decided to launch both Seahouses Lifeboats, and on arrival at the yacht’s location, the Lifeboat Crew tried unsuccessfully from the Inshore Lifeboat, to free the rope. The All Weather Lifeboat then took the yacht in tow to safety at Seahouses Harbour, where it was met by the Seahouses Coastguard Team. Next morning, divers were able to finally remove the rope. The yacht was then able to continue its passage to Blyth.
