Shortly after midday on Sunday 21 July 2019, UK Coastguard requested both Seahouses Lifeboats to launch to the aid of a yacht with two persons on board.

The yacht had run aground on the Swedman rocks at the Farne Islands. The Inshore lifeboat was quickly launched, with the All Weather Lifeboat not far behind, but delayed slightly due to it being a low water launch.

On arrival at the yacht’s position, assistance was given by the lifeboat crews, and the yacht was able come free from the grounding. The lifeboats stood by, till it could be confirmed that the yacht was not taking water or had an damage affecting its safety. The yacht was then able to continue its passage to Amble. The Lifeboats were then released to return to station, but the All Weather Lifeboat had to stand off and await the rising tide before being able to enter Seahouses Harbour at 15:30hr that day.
