PERSON CUT OFF BY TIDE AT ROSS LINKS SANDS, NEAR HOLY ISLAND

At 15.26hr on Saturday 12th August 2017, UK Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat, to assist a person cut off by the tide at Ross Links Sands, north of Bamburgh, near Holy Island. Local shore based Coastguard Rescue Teams from Holy Island, Seahouses and Berwick were also mobilised to the scene.

Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat was launched and as it approached the scene, information was received that the Holy Island Harbour Master in his boat, had managed to rescue the person cut off, and was taking him to safety, where he handed over the casualty to the care of the Coastguard Teams. Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat was stood down and returned to station.

The Seahouses Inshore Lifeboat returned to station, and was refuelled and ready for service at 16.50hr that day. The casualty was believed to be a Spanish Tourist who had been walking on the coastline when he became cut off by the rising tide. Local coastguards reunited him with his car at Berwick.
