At 13.09hr on Sunday 30th April 2017, UK Coastguard requested the immediate launch of both Seahouses Lifeboats, to a report of a male in the water, being swept out to sea, off Beadnell pier.
The Lifeboats were being launched when a further report was received, confirming that the casualty was safely ashore, although he had ingested a quantity of sea water. Local shore based Coastguard teams from Seahouses, Holy Island and Howick, also attended, most of whom were also stood down. The Lifeboats were also cancelled.
There was a gusty ESE wind, Force 4-5, with choppy unpleasant sea conditions. The RNLI have no information about the casualty’s identity, or what he was doing in the water. It is believed he may have been swimming, although this has not been confirmed.
The Lifeboats then returned to station, and were ready for service again at 13.45hr.
