PR220816 Casualty vessel is towed to safety by Shannon class lifeboat R and J Welburn.
Exmouth’s Shannon class lifeboat R and J Welburn launched at 6.09pm on 18 August to assist a leisure fishing vessel which had overheated, seven miles south of the lifeboat station.
The all-weather lifeboat was on scene within 24 minutes and a Crew volunteer placed on board the casualty vessel to assist with setting up a tow line. The volunteers towed the two men back to their mooring off Shelly beach and then assisted them ashore to Exmouth Marina.
R and J Welburn was ready for service again at 9.15pm.
Exmouth RNLI has been operating since 1858. To learn more about the lifeboat stations past and present go to www.exmouth-lifeboat.org.uk
