At 05.09hr on Wednesday 31st August 2016, Humber Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses Lifeboat, to assist the North East Ambulance Service to reach an ill 5yr old child with suspected meningitus. It was outside of the safe crossing time for the tidal Causeway.

MISSING CHILD AT SEAHOUSES BEACH
At 17.18hr on Sunday 28th August 2016, Humber Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses Lifeboats, following the report of a missing 8yr old girl, who may have entered the water on the beach just north of Seahouses. Most of the crew had just left the boathouse, after making preparations for the Annual Seahouses Lifeboat Fete tomorrow, Bank Holiday Monday 29th August, which included a final polish of the boat’s hull and bronze propellors.
NEW CONTRACT TO SUPPORT THE MARITIME AND COASTGUARD AGENCY’S VITAL RADIO COMMUNICATIONS
A team of specialist BAE Systems communications engineers has won a two-year contract extension worth £2 million to support the Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s (MCA) radio communications infrastructure. The contract extends the existing 25-year partnership into 2018.

Personnel from Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) squadrons are participating in ARCTIC CHINOOK, a significant search and rescue (SAR) exercise taking place in the vicinity of Nome, Alaska, from August 22 to 25, 2016.

On 21 August, the station’s volunteers opened the doors to their boathouse to welcome supporters visiting their Open Day. The total raised was just under £1,000 with donations still coming in. The event was well attended with the charity’s shop volunteers experiencing one of their busiest days.
Seahouses Lifeboat called to Ski Accident on 23/08/16
At 19.08hr on Tuesday 23rd August 2016, both Seahouses Lifeboats were at sea on exercise off Seahouses, when Humber Coastguard tasked the Inshore Lifeboat to an incident at Budle Bay, north of Bamburgh. There had been a jet ski accident and a 9yr old female had suffered a suspected fractured femur. The casualty’s exact location was not exactly clear when the initial report was received.

Exmouth’s Shannon class lifeboat R and J Welburn launched at 6.09pm on 18 August to assist a leisure fishing vessel which had overheated, seven miles south of the lifeboat station.

Tonight a group of local musicians launched a CD to promote the ‘Speakeasy’ as well as promote the Sunderland live music scene. There are eleven tracks on the CD, all performed by ‘Speakeasy’ regulars.
