NAT involved in a rescue operation at sea


Hamilton, Bermuda, January 26, 2016


Nordic American Tankers Limited (“NAT” or “the Company”) announced today that one of its vessels performed a rescue operation in the Arabian Gulf, in the evening of January 25, 2016. A distressed ship was sinking and the NAT vessel made its way to the location. Within 30 minutes the crew, 12 seafarers, were successfully rescued. Our vessel promptly resumed its voyage and the rescued seafarers will be sent ashore when it is practical to do so.

New Brighton’s lifeboat B-837 Charles Dibdin was launched at 11:15am at the request of HM Coastguard team to offer safety cover, while they tried to rescue a golden retriever from the Sandhills Islands Groyne, off from the Gunsight in Leasowe Bay.

A Very Special Thank You


On Friday morning, after completing a media event introducing a new piece of life-saving equipment, we received a very special visit from Rick Robinson. Rick was dropping off a picture he had taken and had framed, to thank us for assisting in saving his life late last year. Rick took this photo of Crown Mountain, thinking of all the rescues NSR conducts here and he thought that we would appreciate this very thoughtful gift. He was right! We will proudly display this work of art in the Tim Jones Rescue Center.

Chasing the Deadly Sunset – Saint Marks Rescue

    Call Time: 17:00 – 23:50 (6 Hours 50 Min)
    Short Synopsis: West Vancouver Police received a call from a party of 7 hikers who were stranded after darkness fell. The party had hiked to the summit of Saint Marks to watch the sunset at around 16:30. However, the party was lightly equipped, and had failed to take into account the lack of light after sunset. With only one light for the entire group, they became disoriented and ended up losing the trail, and proceeding part way down Charles Creek. Luckily they stopped and called for help before they got themselves into real trouble. Further compounding the rescue efforts, one member of the party was reported to be in medical distress.

Watch Peterhead’s crew rescue a father and son stranded on the rocks
When a father and son realised that their boat’s engine had failed in force 6 winds and rough waves, they knew that they were in trouble. Powerless against the mercy of the sea, they could do nothing as their boat was driven onto the rocks and began to sink. Left with no other option, they leaped onto the rocks just as their boat disappeared under the water.
