DIY SOS – Homes For Veterans

Just the beginning…….
For WWTW  this is just the beginning. Thanks to all those involved, we will have a permanent base at 42 Canada Street, working with partner organisations to provide welfare and employment support to the new veteran residents, plus veterans in the wider North West region. The support at Canada Street will include an Employment Mentor, who will support individuals on their pathway to a sustainable civilian career, and a welfare support worker, to be on hand to refer people to appropriate sources of help for their mental, physical and social needs. The team will also work with the new residents as they get to know their new community.
Training Accommodation Residence

WWTW will also manage a four bed supported training accommodation residence on the street for veterans who plan to train or work in the North West region. Bed spaces will be available to veterans whilst they complete their courses or secure employment, under the guidance of our Employment Mentor. And with all the goodwill from local contractors, we are already developing local apprenticeships and training courses.

The Future…
Our aim is to get 3000 vulnerable individuals in Greater Manchester and the wider North West region into sustainable employment in the next 10 years.
We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved in the DIY SOS Big Build. The support has been absolutely amazing and we think you’ll all agree that the results are fantastic. Thank you.
