Rockwell Collins unveils new DF-500 for advanced direction finding capabilities

This graphic illustrates how the highly capable DF-500 system pinpoints distress signals with unmatched accuracy and reliability. It enables aircraft to receive and immediately locate activated 406 MHz Emergency Position-Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) signals, allowing crews to go directly to people in distress.

Coliseum Mountain Medical Rescue

On Sunday August 2nd, 2015, North Shore Rescue was activated by BC Ambulance for a injured hiker on the Coliseum Mountain Trail which departs from Lynn Headwaters Park. The initial call indicated a head injury after a slip and fall on the trail, but gave only a rough location of the subject. That is, the subject was approximately 3km up the trail from the Norvan Falls junction, or roughly 2km below the summit. After this initial cellular contact, 911 was not able to re-establish comms.

Seahouses Lifeboat Call Out Notification Wed 05/08/015

Some may have noted from the RNLI Website that we were paged for launch at approx. 16.58hr tonight. A charter boat with a fishing party of twelve, had broken down north of the Farne Islands. On reaching the boathouse, we learned that the boat had managed to restart its engine, so the launch was cancelled. The boat was able to return safely to Seahouses unaided.
