RNLI Kessock volunteers were paged this afternoon (Saturday 20 June) at 5.35pm to assist a yacht that was struggling to make its way into Inverness.
The 30ft yacht had earlier encountered some difficulties near The Kessock Bridge. It was given assistance by another passing yacht and was taken under tow.
Both vessels started making their way towards Inverness Marina.
But with the ebbing spring tide the towing yacht struggled to make anyway underneath The Kessock Bridge and was only able to stem the tide.
RNLI Kessock volunteers launched their Atlantic 85 class lifeboat, Robert and Isobel Mowat, and took over the tow of the yacht. The lifeboat was able to bring the vessel up through the tide and an alongside tow was established to help manoeuvre both vessels into a berth in Inverness Marina.
The Inverness Coastguard team met both boats in the marina and assisted with securing the yacht.
Kessock lifeboat volunteers returned to the lifeboat station and made the lifeboat ready to be called out again.
