Seymour River Rockslide Update

Conditions in the Seymour River and at the rockslide are considered stable at this point. The slide occurred at approximately 5:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, and comprised some 30 – 50,000 cubic metres of rock. Several very large boulders, including one the size of a house and estimated at 3,000 tonnes, and other rocky debris have partially blocked the river, but flow continues. The rock slide is considered naturally occurring.

Finmeccanica – AgustaWestland and Mitsui Bussan Aerospace are pleased to announce that the Tokyo Metropolitan Police has placed an order for an additional AW139 intermediate twin helicopter. The aircraft is expected to enter service in 2016. This latest contract brings to 4 the number of AW139s purchased by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police and expands the AgustaWestland law enforcement helicopter fleet in Japan. More than 40 AgustaWestland helicopters have been ordered so far to perform law enforcement missions including the AW139, the AW109 series and the AW101 helicopter types.

Finmeccanica – AgustaWestland and Mitsui Bussan Aerospace are pleased to announce that the Iwate Prefecture has selected the AW139 twin-engine intermediate class helicopter for firefighting and disaster relief duties, replacing an aging model. The AW139, already a benchmark helicopter in Japan with 38 units in service, will be delivered to the customer at the beginning of 2016.

Weston-super-Mare RNLI volunteers tasked to a large scale casualty exercise at the Weston Bay Yacht Club

Last week-end a major exercise took place in Weston Bay involving the lifeboat crews going to the aid of casualties following a simulated fire and explosion in the Yacht Club. There was a fascinating twist in the tale of the activity for all the crew.

The dependable Exmouth Lifeboat Outside Events team have attended five events in the local community within 10 days. In total, Fundraising volunteers have generated £1,300 to help fund saving lives at sea in Lyme Bay.
