Exmouth RNLI shop volunteers play a role in kitesurfer rescue

Inshore lifeboat George Bearman was launched at 9.19am this morning to rescue a kitesurfer in difficulty off Conger Rocks, half a mile from the lifeboat station. The casualty’s companion had called for help by banging on the RNLI shop door.

LONDON, Thursday, 02 October 2014 – The great and the good of international shipping gathered in London to celebrate the industry’s success stories at the annual Lloyd’s List Global Awards. More than 500 of the industry’s most senior executives turned out to discover the winners at the maritime sector’s most prestigious prize-giving and to recognise the people and businesses that have led the way through innovation, acumen and bravery over the last 12 months.
Mackay Creek Stranded Hiker
Yesterday afternoon NSR SAR Managers received a call from North Vancouver RCMP about a stranded hiker on the front side of Grouse Mountain. After a brief conversation with the subject, managers were able to get his approximate GPS location. The subject, originally heading up the skyline trail, had become lost and ended up in a very steep area near Mackay Creek.
Members were dispatched to the area by ground, and located the subject shortly after dark. Utilizing headlamps, the members then escorted the subject out to safety.

Ebola, a Growing Threat
Ebola has always been a fearsome virus because it has killed so quickly and there was no effective treatment, with survivors being rare accidents. The new changes may create an even greater threat.

On Saturday 27 September, three month old Reuben Anthony Bruce Stott was baptised on board Shannon class lifeboat R and J Welburn. The short service at Exmouth Marina, conducted by Reverend James Hutchings was attended by Reuben’s family and friends.
