YACHT REQUESTS ASSISTANCE AT HOLY ISLAND

At 15.59 hrs on Saturday 16 August 2014 Humber Coastguard reported that a small yacht had requested assistance, dragging its anchor at Holy Island in an adverse wind, and was in danger of being blown aground. Both Seahouses Lifeboats were launched without delay and made their way to Holy Island, in a gusty wind and slightly choppy sea.

As the lifeboats approached the scene, the yacht managed to restart its engine, recover its anchor and had made its way to the safety of the harbour at Holy Island, where it was met by local coastguard officers from Holy Island.

Both Lifeboats were released and returned to station.
