December 8, 2013 – 1530 At 15:30 today Joan Warren was found deceased in Lynn Canyon by a member of the public walking his dog. This is a tragic outcome to a very difficult search operation by the NSR, the emergency services, and the community. We would like to extend our deepest condolences to Joan’s family and friends. We would also like to thank the public and the media for their tireless efforts in trying to find her this weekend.

Members conducted a thorough search of high probability areas this morning, and unfortunately were unable to find Joan. At this point in time, in consultation with the North Vancouver RCMP, North Shore Rescue is officially standing down unless/until new information is received on her whereabouts.
As per our messaging to this point, the public are reminded to stay vigilant and to watch the North Vancouver RCMP website and twitter account (@nvanrcmp) for further updates on search efforts.

Please remain on the lookout for Joan Warren. It would be helpful for members of the public to check their yards, garages and outbuildings for signs. If you see her, call 911 immeadiately.

North Shore Rescue would like to ask all residents of the Lynn Valley area to check their backyards thoroughly this morning for any sign of Joan Warrens. Furthermore, any mountain bikers, hikers or other outdoor users, please keep your eyes peeled when you head out today. The lower trail systemsm, rice lake, lynn headwaters and lynn canyon are all high probability areas.
For all other North Shore residents, we ask that you keep your eyes peeled and report any sightings directly to the North Vancouver RCMP by calling 604-985-1311 or 911.
