East Anglian Air Ambulance Trophy returns to Kym Valley

A charity carpet bowls match was held on the 24th April 2013 in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance. This years’ match between Renhold Carpet Bowls Club and Kym Valley Carpet Bowls Club saw newly crowned Bedfordshire Carpet Bowls Champions stage a remarkable fight back only to miss out on regaining the East Anglian Air Ambulance trophy by a single point.

The 2012 Weston-super-Mare Lifeboat Pull

For many years, following the custom in many seaside towns, Weston-super-Mare RNLI Lifeboat volunteers have towed a lifeboat along the sea front promenade to raise funds for the charity’s work of saving lives at sea. This year the Lifeboat Pull will take place at midday on the Bank Holiday Monday 6th May along Weston-super-Mare promenade.

Swanage RNLI crew members recognised for 20 years of voluntary service

Making the decision to become a volunteer lifeboat crew member is a huge commitment. On joining, the members agree to run to the call of the pager day or night, 365 days a year, often leaving occasions with friends and family or rising from their beds in the depths of the night. Yet despite these sacrifices many make the RNLI part of their lives and remain volunteer crew for many years. This month two of the crew at Swanage, Colin Marks and Dave Turnbull have received long service awards from the RNLI for 20 years voluntary service.

Crown Creek Rescue

Yesterday, April 23 at 6:30pm NSR was called out in response to a 911 call of 6 stranded hikers on Grouse Mountain. Initially the hikers believed they were on the backside of Crown Mountain, however, after contact was made with NSR, some discussion with the SAR Manager, and receiving GPS coordinates it was determined that they were on the front side of Grouse Mountain in Crown Creek.
