On Tuesday 24th July, 2012, as part of his visit to the North East, HRH Prince Charles visited Seahouses Lifeboat Station to meet the crew, before moving to visit the harbour, and meet members of the local community and organisations. He also visited the Olde Ship Inn (a Seahouses icon), where he enjoyed a glass of ale, and received a bottle of special Malt Whiskey produced to commemorate the Inn being in the Glen family for 100 years. He then went on to visit Swallows Smokery to see kipper production, before leaving Seahouses to visit a micro brewery at the Ship in at Newton by the Sea. An enjoyable and memorable day was had by all, and our visitor seemed to enjoy his enthusiastic Northumbrian welcome.
