Sunderland RNLI rescues fisherman after boat suffers engine failure

Lifeboat volunteers from Sunderland RNLI Station scrambled into action for the seventieth time in 2012 early this evening (Saturday 25 August) to assist the solo fisherman, after his boat suffered engine failure next to Corporation Quay.

Ballycotton lifeboat launched to fishing vessel taking in water

A pan pan was issued today, Thursday, 23 August, by a 32 foot fishing vessel 6 miles south of Cork Harbour. The Irish registered vessel with two persons on board was taking in water and requested assistance. Ballycotton RNLI lifeboat was requested to launch. The Cork Harbour pilot boat, Failte, stood by the fishing vessel until the RNLI lifeboat, Austin Lidbury, arrived on scene. Two lifeboat crew members were placed aboard the vessel with a salvage pump. The water intake was brought under control and the fishing vessel was towed into Crosshaven in Cork Harbour.

Family walk to raise vital funds for those who helped Darren

Darren Bett’s was airlifted by the East Anglian Air Ambulance a year ago after he was involved in a serious road traffic collision near Stowmarket in Suffolk. Today, to mark the anniversary of the accident, he embarks on a walk from the crash site to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where he was taken to raise money for the charity which helped save his life.

Family Urges Support for Charity Fun Run

Alex Gray, a 25 year old man from Cambridge, and his partner Emma Eldergill are calling on runners in the region to take part in a ‘Runway Run’ in aid of the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA). It’s set to take place on Sunday 30 September 2012 on the runway of the Second World War Tibenham Airfield near Diss – a flat course set in picturesque Norfolk countryside. Participants can walk, jog or run a course of either five or ten km.

Sunderland RNLI join Multi Agency search of River Wear

Volunteers from Sunderland’s RNLI station were amongst a host of emergency services that were called into action late last night after a passing moped rider reported that he had seen a women standing on the wrong side of railings on the Queen Alexandra Bridge. Minutes later when Police Officers arrived they were unable to locate the women so a full search and rescue mission was instigated.
