Swanage RNLI crew member in Diamond Jubilee Thames Pageant

Rob Aggas, RNLI Fleet Operations Manager and volunteer 2nd Coxswain at Swanage lifeboat station will be Coxswain aboard the RNLI’s newest all-weather lifeboat – which will be named Diamond Jubilee in honour of the charity’s Patron, Her Majesty The Queen – when it takes part in the Diamond Jubilee River Thames Pageant on Sunday 3 June.

YACHT REPORTED IN DISTRESS OFF DUNSTANBURGH CASTLE

At 11.08hr on Sunday 27th May 2012, Humber Coastguard requested the launch of Seahouses All Weather Lifeboat, to go the aid of an 8m sailing yacht, name unknown, thought to be in distress off Dunstanburgh Castle near Newton Haven. There was thick fog at the time, and another yacht “Tara” had reported the crew of the un-named yacht waving apparently for assistance. Seahouses ALB was quickly launched and an RAF Rescue Helicopter and local Coastguards were also mobilised.

Sunshine continues to keep Rhyl RNLI volunteers busy

Passenger ship safety recommendations agreed by IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee

Recommended interim measures aimed at enhancing the safety of passenger ships, in the wake of the Costa Concordia incident in January, were agreed by IMO’s Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), when it met at the Organization’s London Headquarters for its 90th session from 16 to 25 May 2012.
