Tobermory lifeboat rushed to the aid of a 70 foot sail training vessel with eleven youngsters and five crew on board in rough seas off the Isle of Iona on 26 April 2012.

RNLI Portsmouth Lifeboat Saves Two Fishermen from sinking Trawler.

This was the third shout of the day for Portsmouth RNLI
Shout 1 ILB launched to assist a kayaker in difficulty in the main Langstone channel.
Shout 2 small power boat with machinery failure just off the boathouse.
Shout 3 Mayday to Sinking Trawler – shortly after 3pm

RNLI Portsmouth lifeboat Norma T had returned from routine training when a Mayday call was heard over the VHF Radio. The Mayday was from an 11 Metre Fishing Trawler reporting that it was taking on water two miles south of Langstone Harbour.

Mudeford RNLI launch for a kitesurfer in trouble.

The volunteer crew from Mudeford RNLI were tasked to assist a kitesurfer in trouble
on Friday afternoon. Mudeford Servant along with the coastguard helicopter were on
the scene within minutes of the call.

The kitesurfer who had run into trouble half a mile off shore near to Naish had
managed to get himself back to safety. He was located near to long groyne, where a
crew member waded to shore to see if any medical or further assistance was
needed. As this was declined the lifeboat and her crew returned to the station.

Snowman 2 Successfully Completed

As can be seen in the earlier post on Snowman 2 here, the original plan was to have the helicopter rescue team come on scene during the scenario and begin to evacuate victims via helicopter longline. However, due to weather at the site, this was not an option and the exercise was reconfigured to allow the land based response to be run independent of air operations.

Lions Bay Medical Rescue on Sunday

Sunday afternoon NSR was called out to assist Lions Bay SAR with a medical rescue. Two hikers were descending from the Lions on a steep snow slope and slipped and fell. Both subjects fell several hundred feet through forested terrain. They were able to get a call out to 911 on their cell phone. BC Ambulance dispatched paramedics including Tim J, NSR member and Team Leader. BC Ambulance then contacted Lions Bay SAR and NSR to request assistance.
