Engineer, Lucy Jones received an email from the RNLI publicising the day and her team were eager to join others around the country, raising money for the RNLI on SOS Day. Lucy told the lifeboat volunteers of her plans to run both the London and Edinburgh marathons this year for the charity that saves lives at sea, raising money through sponsorship.

Senior Secretary, Liz Jefferiss speaking of the company’s enthusiasm to support charities, said;

‘We try and take part in most charities’ special days when we can. There aren’t many around this time of year and it helps brighten up the office. However, this one means a little bit more to us living so close to the sea.’

To raise money on Friday, staff dressed down in nautical stripes or yellow clothes (like lifeboat crew) and towards the end of the day, held a cake sale. During the SOS Day, staff raised £50.

A cheque for £150 was handed over to Exmouth RNLI which came from the proceeds of a loose change pot from 2011. Staff voted at the end of last year to decide on which charity should win the pot, as they do every year.
