Volunteers from Porthdinllaen RNLI lifeboat station launched again at 10.30 am this morning (28 November) to continue the search for five crew men missing after their cargo ship sank in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The vessel, Swanland, sank 30 miles off the Welsh coast. Two of her crew were picked up by helicopter and a body was recovered later in the afternoon.
Five RNLI lifeboats took part in yesterday’s search. Volunteer crew members from Porthdinllaen, Pwllheli, Trearddur Bay, Abersoch and Holyhead lifeboat stations joined search and rescue helicopters and other commercial vessels looking for the missing men.
Between them, the crew of the five lifeboat stations volunteered 300 hours to search for the missing men in gale force winds and rough seas.
