On Thursday 24th November, Exe Sailing Club held their popular annual Wine & Cheese evening. Commodore Rex Frost presented Exmouth RNLI Coxswain/Mechanic Tim Mock with a cheque for £1887.42 for the lifesaving charity.
Rex Frost said: ‘The money raised came from donations made by our sailing club members during the membership process and also from our end of season yacht race to Brixham.’
He added: ‘It was a very good turn out to the wine and cheese evening and I’d like to give special thanks to Mary Fagan, Pete and Jacqui Thomas and Deirdre Jennings for making this all happen. I was very heartened to see everyone turn up to support the charity.’
Tim Mock, commented: ‘We were very pleased to receive such a generous donation from the Exe Sailing Club who have supported us over many years, especially with the wine and cheese evenings. Needless to say the running costs of the boats and crew training are considerable and donations such as this really help.’
Exmouth RNLI Guild reported that £200 was made on ticket sales and a further £120 was raised by a raffle held later that evening.
This well attended social event was also an opportunity for guests to purchase a few Christmas cards and gifts as the RNLI shop volunteers held a stall there raising £140.
