The yacht, just 2 miles north-east of Mannez Lighthouse, had suffered engine failure and was being carried towards the shore by the tide. The lifeboat was on scene in 10 minutes by which time the yacht’s engine was working again and she was escorted to Braye Harbour with both vessels being secure on moorings by 11.40 am.

Portsmouth-registered, Sunsail 4006 had been heading for Braye from Cherbourg.
