Sunderland RNLI lifeboats and lifeguards at last year’s air show

Lifeboat volunteers and beach lifeguards from Sunderland RNLI Station will once again join forces with fellow Maritime Rescue Organisations to help ensure that the crowds of people attending this year’s Sunderland International Air Show will be kept safe both at sea and along the City’s coastline.

Eastbourne RNLI’s all weather lifeboat went to the assistance of the Shoreham registered beam trawler Jack Henry last evening (25 July) when it began taking on water over three miles off Beachy Head.

WINDSURFER IN SERIOUS DISTRESS IN BEADNELL BAY

At 16.28hr on Monday 25th July 2011, Humber Coastguard requested the launch of the Seahouses All Weather Lifeboat, to assist a windsurfer reported to be in serious distress in Beadnell Bay. The report had come from a member of the public on shore. An RAF Rescue helicopter from RAF Boulmer was also scrambled.

Sunderland RNLI rescue large concrete hulled yacht

Volunteers from Sunderland RNLI Lifeboat Station were this afternoon involved in a mission to rescue the crew of a large (16m long) concrete hulled yacht (27 ton) which had suffered had suffered engine failure in rough seas off Sunderland while on passage from Hartlepool to Scotland.

RNLI New Brighton lifeboat volunteers rescue injured yachtsman

At 8.08am, RNLI New Brighton lifeboat crew were alerted by HM Coastguard, Liverpool, that a crewman on a yacht located in the Crosby channel was in urgent need of assistance. It was reported that he had received a crush injury to a leg following a collision with the Cardinal Buoy.
